Showcasing Sona in San Diego, part 2

Last month Sona Nanotech attended the Advanced Lateral Flow Course (ALFC) 2018 in San Diego, California, where we were given a valuable opportunity to showcase our products and services to the lateral flow sector.

The three-day seminar, which was hosted by DCN Diagnostics and Qiagen, was attended by more than 200 delegates from across the world.

As a sponsor Sona was able to exhibit and present at the event. Anindita Gupta, Sona’s business development manager, said this was “exceptionally successful”.

“We received great interest from many businesses, institutions and individuals who were impressed by our unique gold nanorods, which will power the next generation of lateral flow rapid diagnostic tests,” she said.

“We met people who are developing innovative lateral flow tests across various fields including human health, veterinary science and environmental applications and who are very interested in developing collaborations and working on projects with us.

“Sona’s offering is unique and really stood out at ALFC, not only because of the multiplexing capabilities of our gold nanorods but also for our conjugation and prototype development services, which we can deliver at a much-reduced price compared to other companies.”

During the event Sona signed a co-marketing agreement with fellow exhibitors Bond Digital Health, a UK-based life sciences company. The agreement means the two companies will work together to market and promote each other’s products and services. For Sona, it will open up a new source of customers and collaborators.

Also present at ALFC were our partners Expedeon, a global biotech company with whom we recently signed a deal to supply our unique gold nanorods for integration into their product range. During their presentation, Expedeon promoted Sona’s products and reported back that they had received a lot of interest from new and potential customers.

Darren Rowles, CEO of Sona Nanotech, said: “The Advanced Lateral Flow Course is the key event for the lateral flow sector, so it was important for Sona to attend.

“We may be the ‘new kids on the block’ when it comes to this sector, but we have global ambitions and the scientific know-how and funding to achieve them.

“The feedback we received on our products and services from delegates at ALFC was remarkable, and the contacts we made will be crucial as we grow in this competitive market.

“We are really excited about the business opportunities that came out of this event, and we look forward to sharing some more news on these very soon.”
