Anu at AACC 2018
Next week Team Sona is heading to California to take part in one of the world’s largest scientific trade shows, the 71st annual scientific meeting and clinical lab expo of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry.
Better known as AACC 2019, the five-day event is being held at the Anaheim Convention Centre and will include more than 800 exhibitors, 300 educational sessions and 21,000 attendees.
AACC is important for Sona, both from a commercial and a scientific perspective. Having a presence at this key industry event will allow us to showcase our unique gold nanorod technology and our range of services to the thousands of delegates in attendance from across the world. This year we are exhibiting in Hall A, Booth #4257.
Last year our business development manager Anindita Gupta met with representatives from more than 50 companies who showed interest in our gold nanorods, which has led to a number of ongoing collaborations.
This year we not only want to promote ourselves but also to learn from others. We want to understand new and emerging trends in diagnostics, particularly in the rapid point of care market, and see what new product lines and tests are coming to market.
We also want to understand what other companies in this sector are looking for, what gaps they might have in their product offering and how Sona’s technology might be able to fill those gaps or complement their existing technology and help them develop the next generation of point of care diagnostics.
Sona CEO Darren Rowles said: “The diagnostics market has been growing rapidly over the last few years, especially in the lateral flow segment, so AACC will be a perfect opportunity to assess the current state of the market and where it is heading.
“In that time there has also been a steady shift in demand from lab-based molecular tests to rapid point of care tests, with a growing move towards over the counter tests that allow consumers to take control of their own health. It will be interesting to see what new products are being developed in this area and how Sona’s unique technology can help improve what is on offer.”
