Our products and services

Gold Nanorods

Sona’s unique gold nanorod technology combines the benefits of multicoloured nanoparticles with the performance and ease of use of traditional spherical gold to power your next generation lateral flow assays.

Conjugation Service

Sona can combine your biologicals with our nanorods to offer a fully optimized conjugate for your assays, reducing your development time and allowing you to focus on test development.

"Our Gold Nanorods will redefine the next generation of lateral flow test development"

Lateral Flow Test Development

Sona provides a tailored, modular contract development service from proof of concept through to full development and transfer to production, helping you bring your tests to market.

Lateral Flow Test Production

Sona is partnered with world-class, third-party  manufacturers to manufacture pilot and  validation batches through to large-scale bulk volumes to serve your market.

Lateral Flow Test Reader

The ‘Cube’ is the next generation of test readers – small, compact, user-friendly, intuitive, wireless, cost-effective and provides clear results. It serves as a virtual ‘electronic eye’ to turn qualitative tests into quantitative tests.

Mobile Apps On The Cloud

ePRO (Electronic patient record outcomes) and EDC (Electronic Data Capture) that record test data using a secure cloud-based platform to collect and store results for monitoring, predictive analysis and epidemiology.

Sona does not use CTAB or any of its homologs to produce its gold nanorods (GNRs). This means no traces of CTAB or CTA+ are present in the GNRs after production. Other suppliers make GNRs in CTAB or is its analogs and then try to remove excess CTAB or wrap their GNRs in polymers with CTAB still sitting on them.
SONA provides characterization information with every lot including size (TEM *what this means), optical properties (UV-Vis to near IR spectroscopy), zeta potential (Dynamic Light Scattering). Representative TEM images and batch-specific spectra are also included on every product sheet.
SONA’s gold nano rods (GNRs) remain stable for at least a year. Please see our technical specification sheets for information on best practices for storage and handling.
We are actively seeking collaborations with lateral flow test developers or developers of any medical applications using GNRs or where GNRs may prove to be the appropriate particle.

We are always willing to discuss collaborations. To begin the process of collaborating, please contact us.

SONA’s gold nanorods are designed with life science applications in mind, such as:
  • Photothermal / hyperthermal therapy
  • Bio-imaging (3D)
  • Diagnostic test kits
  • Pain management
  • Liposuction
SONA’s gold nanorods are also suitable for research in:
  • Data storage
  • Solar cell technology

Please contact us for further information regarding the use of our particles for your desired application.

SONA has a patent-pending manufacturing process that produces stable, monodispersed gold nanorods. Our customers can achieve better results due to the uniformity in rod shape, and the reproducibility that our method provides.
SONA’S CTAB-free gold nanorods (GNRs) are safe for in-vivo uses. Thus, if the aim of specific research is to be approved for human trial, Sona’s nano rods offer the best chance. Further, Sona’s GNRs have superior uniformity. The surface molecules of the GNRs exchange more easily with other molecules to make surface enhancement and functionalization easier.
