Sona Nanotech has appointed a business development manager to help the company forge new strategic partnerships and expand into new markets.
The newly-created role has been given to Anindita Gupta, who has more than nine years’ experience in biological sciences and business development.
Miss Gupta will be responsible for expanding Sona’s customer base, developing new strategic partnerships with business and academic collaborators, promoting Sona’s products, and developing innovative strategies to enter new markets.
Sona’s CEO Darren Rowles said: “My driving ambition is for Sona Nanotech to be a key player in the global life sciences industry. To achieve that aim we need to be constantly making new connections and new collaborations with partners across the world.
“With her strong bio-science and business background Anindita – Anu – is the ideal candidate to fill the role of business development manager and help Sona realize its goals.
“Not only was I was impressed by Anu’s professional credentials, but also her passion for working on projects with a bigger social impact, which is exactly the sort of ethos I want to develop. All these attributes make her the perfect fit for Team Sona.”
Miss Gupta has a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, minoring in microbiology, from North Dakota State University and a master’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Delaware. She has just completed a master’s degree in technology entrepreneurship and innovation at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax.
Her most recent role was as director of marketing and business development for NeckTronics Inc., a medical technology startup based in Halifax.
